About Linda LaBarre
Professional Home Organizer Linda LaBarre brings a wealth of varied experiences to her work. She active member of NAPO (national association of professional organizers). She has worked in the areas of sales and merchandising, life skills and career counseling, community building and working for the environment. This is how she has applied her organizing skills. Sales and Merchandising Linda designed merchandise displays and worked as a kitchen designer for Home Depot. Her job in cross-merchandising entailed organizing the store so that products which were previously sold in different departments would be displayed in a more project-oriented style. Linda's organizational approach resulted in increased sales of these products for the store. While working at Home Depot, Linda received extensive training in hardware, kitchen design, flooring and decor, millwork, and the garden center. She continued her education in home design with classes in the building sciences. This comprehensive knowledge of home center products combined with her applied science coursework provides her with a clear understanding of building materials, and the inner workings of a home as a system. She also holds a B.A. Degree from Metropolitian State University. Life Skills and Career Counseling Linda's vast knowledge of products is an enormous asset to her business; however, her ability to work with people in a wide variety of different settings is at the heart of her business. As the lead Direct Care Provider of a group home for handicapped adults, Linda worked with clients with mental, physical and emotional challenges. Her responsibilities included helping her clients with bill-paying, personal shopping and finances, social service negotiation, medical appointments, and personal needs. Linda's training for this work included courses in first aid, CPR, and medication administration. While working with these clients, Linda became involved in helping them with job skills and job training. She served as an advocate for her clients in their job situations, which led to a job in career counseling. A thread in Linda's past life and career has been helping people improve their quality of life at home. As a volunteer in the Lutheran Brotherhood, she helped impoverished people maintain their homes. She also has worked in disaster relief for the American Red Cross. As a certified swimming instructor through the Red Cross, Linda has been teaching swimming lessons to children and adults since 1994. It is a personal mission for Linda to teach swimming as a life skill to children. Through this longterm relationship with her swimming students, Linda has gained an excellent understanding of children, families, and home life. She has also taught children's classes in cooking, organic gardening, disc golf, and environmental art projects. Community Building and Working for the Environment As a consultant for local environmental projects, Linda participated in lobbying and fundraising, database management, wrote newsletter articles, and organized community events. She has worked as an office manager for Friends of the Mississippi River. She has served on the Board of the Dayton's Bluff Community Council as Treasurer. Linda has also worked for the Community Design Center, where she taught junior high students work and life skills with an environmental focus. Through her work at Mississippi Market, an organic food co-op, Linda became aware of the need for a community-based approach to eating and the environment. She is dedicated to locally and organically-grown foods, nontoxic cleaning products, and healthy building materials. For the past twenty years, Linda has organized and been involved in neighborhood clean-up events. She is committed to revitalizing green spaces to be valued and cherished places in our community, improving quality of life inside and out. | How Linda LaBarre Can Help You Make Room For More of What You Value I bring design knowledge combined with the ability to create systems that will translate into a more organized way of living. You really improved our quality of life in that room, which ripples through the whole house! We appreciate your great creativity and artistry." Dr. H. MacLaughlin "Linda helped me create a filing system for my office, to set procedures for managing and tracking my numerous tasks, and to teach me habits to manage the system. I am very pleased to announce that with her system in place, I am spending less time with organizational procedures, and have more stress-free time for doing my work. Her suggestions were logical, were presented clearly, and were implemented with relative ease. I am very grateful for the help she provided me."
